Member Update

5/15/2026

This week’s update begins with some business that was missed last week.

Congratulations to Jeff Dornan on his May 2nd Hole-in-One on Hole #6...on opening day. Jeff told me he waited 47 years for the hole-in-one and was ok with an extra week to see the announcement.

The past week was a busy one with several projects, clubhouse water disruptions, and league startups. Yesterday’s email posted <HERE>, provided operating updates, and as of 11:30 this morning, the drinking water advisory has been lifted.

Tuesday Morning Ladies’ Day, Tuesday Men’s Night, and Wednesday Women’s Night all got started this week. Thursday Senior Men’s was cancelled yesterday morning due to the weather. For league and tournament players, please see a not below on keeping a Golf Canada Handicap.

Yesterday’s Multi-Vendor Demo Day was cancelled due to the weather, but the Pro Shop has upcoming club fitting days by appointment that include:

  • Titleist Club Fitting: Friday, May 22 from 10-4
  • Ping Club Fitting: Saturday, May 30 from 10-3
  • Titleist Vokey Wedge Day: June 6 from 1-4

Note: Visit the Club Calendar for June 6th Vokey Wedge Day. There's a fee for this Special Fitting Day, and it includes a New Vokey Wedge, Breakfast, Short Game Clinic, and Swag. Contact Sloane: [email protected] to book into a fitting day.

Upcoming Events:

  • A Celebration of Life for Peggy Yano will be held at SGCC on Tuesday May 19th from 2-4pm
  • Tuesday Men’s Night: May 19
  • Wednesday Women’s Night: May 20
  • Spring Thaw Presented by Collision Plus Autobody: May 23 & 24
  • Aeration of the back-nine greens: May 25th

Have a Great Weekend

KEEPING A GOLF CANADA MEMEBERSHIP

Golf Canada is the Authorized National body responsible for implementing and administering the Rules of Handicapping in Canada. In 2025, 40% of SGCC Members posted at least one score with Golf Canada, which is low compared to similar clubs across the country.

Golf Canada Membership is included for all members in playing categories. Most of our leagues and club tournaments (like the Spring Thaw next weekend) use individual handicaps for net scoring. Members who don’t have a handicap won’t get strokes. Estimates are not accepted, and other handicap programs are not necessarily recognized.

Access to the Golf Canada portal is provided on a computer located in the lobby near the Pro Shop. This is a good spot to start as you can access your account by name. If you've completed your sign-up with Golf Canada, you can gain access through the SGCC Website on the Member Dashboard. Members can also download and sign-in on the Golf Canada App with lots of great features including scoring/handicap tracking.

Note: Men's Night scores are now automatically uploaded to Golf Canada.
