Our last Club Tournament is on this weekend. The Frostbite presented by DHR Global (Dan Brown), Kolibab Mechanical (Ryan Kolibab) and JGL Capital (Regan Espeseth) is a 1,2,3 Net Best-Ball with shotgun starts at 9:00 each day. Follow the action online <HERE> or use SGCCFB23 on the Golf Genius App.
New tees on holes 15 and 18 are taking shape. Work on base-fill was completed earlier this week. Irrigation installation should be complete today, and topsoil is already going down on the tee surrounds. Next week, a 6 inch layer of root-zone mix goes down on the tee-surface, with sod to finish as soon as next week.
The new putting green site has been stripped and some base-fill has been placed. There’s more stripping to do for a transition area between the range and the green. Watch for a lot more fill to come, followed by irrigation, and topsoil/root-zone layering similar to the tee construction. We expect everything will be shaped and installed, including the sod surrounds, leaving only the putting surface to be seeded in the spring.
And if you’re wondering what root-zone mix is…it’s that big pile of sand/peat moss mix in the parking lot behind the first tee. All of that pile goes onto the putting surface, and there's more of the same in the maintenance yard for the tee-box projects.
Flags were lowered this week for the sudden passing of Bruce Irvine. Bruce was an active member since 1969 and enjoyed playing 2-3 games a week with Ray Pilkey and Ron Benson. Last Friday, they picked up Howard Birnie to make it 185 years of membership. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Bruce’s family.
