Spring weather continues to be challenging with a few cold and wet days this week. We normally think of June as Summer around here, so the warmer sunny days this weekend will be a nice change.

The Reliance Gregg’s Central Amateur is coming up on June 27th & 28th. It’s a 2-day tournament this year with a Senior Men’s Division of 48 players and a single Men’s Division of 60 players. It’s one of the few “flighted” stroke play events in the province, as players will be divided into flights of 12 after the first day.

Volunteers are needed to assist with the Central Am, as one of the longest running events in the province dating back to 1943. Help is needed with starting, spotting, scoring, and pace of play. Sign-up <HERE> if you would like to get involved. The hours a little less this year with just 2-days of golf, but volunteers are still a big part of what makes it a special weekend for players from SGCC and around the province.

Congratulations to our SGCC Captain’s Challenge Team (Lynne Lacroix, Judy Sefton, Laurie Evans, Sarah Henderson, Rose Halbach, Peggy Antonichuk, Anne Marie Schulte, Linda Meidl, Audrey Folden, Judith Walshe, Elanor McIvor, and Leslie Gibb) as they took a 3.5 to 2.5 lead in the first round of matches this week. The team will be at Riverside for a chance to take the Cup on June 23rd.

Congratulations to Dan Brown on his Hole-in-One last night on Hole #12.

Men’s Night next week is sponsored by Century 21 Fusion (Gary Busch), Blue Moose Media (Travis Low), and TAM International (Justin Whiteside).

Women’s Night next week is cancelled due to the BUG Tournament…but returns on June 24th, with registration for both June 24 and July 1 available <HERE>.

Upcoming Club Fitting Days include Ping from 12-6 on Thursday June 18th and Callaway from 2-6 on Friday the 19th. Contact Brennen or Sloane: [email protected].

The SGCC App has been getting great reviews. It’s available for Apple devices <HERE> and for Android devices <HERE>. Once you have the app, log-in using the same username and password as you do for our website.

The app gives you quicker access to the tee-sheet, club calendar, and your account statement. Purchases are not “live”, so charges won’t appear until the office runs cash-out and posting procedures. Typically charges are visible the next business day, which can be several days for weekend charges.

Important Reminder: Members are reminded to check their statements for outstanding charges and keep their account current. Accounts with charges that are 60 days past due are moved to “no golf” status which prevents tee-time booking. Right now, this would affect an account with unpaid charges from March, but on July 1st it will affect accounts unpaid items that were charged in April.

Upcoming F&B Events:

  • Father’s Day Brunch – Sunday June 21st
  • Father’s Day All You Can Eat Ribs – Sunday June 21st
  • SGCC Patio Party – Friday June 26th

Have a Great Weekend.
