Seeing water pumps on the course this morning was a good sign that golf season is not far away. And those areas are isolated, as Terry has confirmed that underground drainage lines are running in several areas.

About half of of the greens are clear of snow, but more melting and warmer temperatures are needed to remove the winter tarps and flax straw that protect the greens. The forecast looks good to start that next week, and by next Friday we should have a good idea when the range and course will be ready.

Next week will be busy around the clubhouse as we finish cleaning locker rooms after the bathroom renos, and put the club storage area back together. The Pro Shop and other areas may be closed at times next week as we prepare for startup. Watch for an announcement next week on when the locker rooms and club storage are ready for move-in.

March statements went out on Tuesday, and the April 1st deadline to pay membership fees has passed. The March statement also included the $450 F&B Minimum for applicable categories. Remember to look closely at your statements for any new charges or outstanding balances.

Fun Facts: Member Statements are issued at the beginning of each month for accounts that have activity during the prior month. That’s about 800 statements in February (annual dues) and roughly the same each month from May through October. Members can have their balance cleared automatically (mid-month) to a credit card. That’s called “balance clearing” and you have to opt-in by contacting the office. Otherwise, payments can be made by etransfer, online banking (by adding SGCC as a payee), over the phone with a credit card, or in-person with credit or debit card.

The recent survey on Lottery Bookings returned 41% in favour of the existing 4-day system, 34% prefer 7-days, and 25% had no preference.

With that, we’re preparing a new schedule that will run the draws on Monday for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Then on Thursday, draws will be made for Monday to Thursday of the following week.

Think of it this way…on Monday afternoon, members using the lottery will receive notice of all tee-times for Friday through Sunday...and the tee sheets become open for regular bookings. On Thursday afternoon, members using the lottery will find out what they have booked on Monday through Thursday the following week...and again, the tee sheets for those days are open Thursday afternoon.

Notice of lottery results stays the same at 4-days for Friday and Monday, with 5, 6, and 7 days notice provided for other days of the week. The biggest advantage will be knowing all your weekend tee times by Monday afternoon. We don’t typically have enough notice to start the season in a regular lottery schedule, but expect the new draw dates to be in use by the end of April.

Have a Great Weekend.
