The Saskatchewan Amateur Championships were held this week at Kenosee Lake.
Our own Grace Odnokon (age 16) won the Women’s Overall Championship. This goes with the Junior Girls Provincial Championship she won last week at Warman. The Men’s Championship held its final round today.
SGCC Member Ethan Hunter (age 16) finished tied for second and Back Shop Staffer Max Regier was T4. Full results can be found <

Congratulations to Brent Davis on his Hole-in-One this morning on Hole #6.
With the hot humid weather, and influx of mosquitoes, a reminder to members to
apply bug spray on the cart paths and away from grass and power carts. There are several spots in the second fairway where the grass has been killed by bug spray. Thankfully we haven’t seen any damage on the greens. We also have at least one cart windshield to be replaced. Overspray on carts leaves light damage, and applying directly to the windshield as a cleaning solution will ruin it. It’s also something to remember if you get spray on your hands and then reach for a golf club as it will eat away at the grips. Strange that we put this stuff on our bodies, but I know I don’t go outside these days without it.
As far as “fogging the course” for mosquitoes, there’s no feasible treatment given the size of our property. The City of Saskatoon treats our ponds from time to time to keep the population down. Unlike other parts of the province, we did see the first wave die off earlier this year. Hopefully there’s a turning point in the current cycle.
Men’s Night returns on Tuesday next week with sponsors:
Titan Group (Jordan Mann), C3Bi (Ian Poetker) and
Affinity Credit Union (Leigh Spencer)
Women’s Night also returns on Wednesday next week sponsored by
Crossfit Ashlar (Tarra Hall)
The Club Championship presented by Affinity Credit Union is next weekend. We have 100 entries so far, with categories for Men, Women, Senior Men, Senior Women, Legends Men (70 & Over) Junior Boys and Junior Girls. Enter <

Special Note on Online Bookings, TBDs and Guests
For online bookings, please note that the “TBD” placeholder is intended to hold a spot when you don’t yet know who will be using that spot. It carries the same weight as the group average, so there’s no advantage in the lottery system. And...
bookings with a TBD are issued a 72-hour reminder to provide a name, and a 24-hour notice that the TBD will be removed. This function was not working properly for a few weeks but is now and removes TBDs 24 hours in advance if they are not confirmed with a name.
Note: The “TBD” is a single pre-set player option in the "non-accounts" category. You don’t need to create a TBD, but rather just chose it as the only option under in that category.
Other categories to search for a name in the system are “Member”, “Guest” and “Both”. When adding a guest, please search for the name first in the “guest” category. If the name does not come up, you can use the “Create Guest” button to add your guest’s name into the system. This will create a new profile that can be used to book in the future.
And finally, adding your guest’s name on the sheet is a small thing that makes playing our course a better experience for all. Currently, we have 75 versions of “guest-something” and 14 versions of “TBD-something” in the guest list. Members should take the time to input the actual guest name. It allows our staff to match guests with the right group at check-in for a more personal service. It also helps our staff track who is on the course and allows us to find guests in the event of an emergency.
Have a Great Weekend,
McLaren Taylor
