Member Update

1/9/2026

On behalf of everyone here at SGCC, we wish you a Happy New Year. Planning is already underway for the 2026 season, as we count the days to another course opening, somewhere between 14 and 16 weeks from today.

The Annual General Meeting reminder was sent earlier this week, for Tuesday January 20th at 7pm. The AGM Package, GM Report, 2025 Financials, and Finance Report are posted on the Member Dashboard. The meeting will be held both in-person and online via Zoom. To receive a Zoom link for the online stream, click <HERE>.

Members can submit a question to be answered at the AGM. Email your question <HERE> by January 16th at 12Noon. Depending on the number of questions, answers may be provided/published in advance.

The election of 3 Board Members will take place next week, online through Simply Voting. An email will be sent to eligible voters on Tuesday morning. Voting will open on Tuesday at 12Noon, and close at 12Noon on Friday. Candidates include current Vice President Wes Ramsay running for a second term, and E.J. Babey, Joseph Blondeau, Malcolm Meekins, Bill Muirhead, Zak Parker, Ian Poetker, and Tyler Sharp (Sharpy), and Dustin Skitcko all running for a first term. Information on the candidates is posted <HERE> on the website.

Membership Dues are billed at the end of January for members who have not pre-paid or are not on the monthly payment plan. Membership Status changes for the upcoming season can be made by contacting the general office. Email [email protected] or call 306-931-0022.

Changes that are made by January 28th will be reflected on your statement. Otherwise, members are billed in the same category they were billed last year. Please note that the membership roster is managed by category with separate waitlists and availability that may change leading up to the season. For more information contact the office.

A Monthly Payment Plan is available, which runs from November through October. Installments are billed to the member's account on or about the 15th day of each month, and payment is taken automatically from a credit card or bank account.

  • February 7th is the deadline for existing members to switch to the monthly program.
  • Enrollment for monthly billing anytime before the February 7th deadline requires a catch-up payment, and some paperwork to authorize the automatic monthly payment.
  • For members not on the monthly plan, and not pre-paid, membership fees are due by April 1st.

Flags were lowered recently for the passing of Garth Evans on December 29th and Ray Pilkey on January 2nd. Garth was a member of the club since 2019, while Ray was a member since 1986. Our thoughts and best wishes go out to Laurie Evans and Dene Pilkey.

Fun Fact: Peter Semko was well known in Saskatoon as the original builder/owner of Greenbryre Golf Club, but his career in golf started at SGCC in 1946 at the age of 11. Initially he worked in the back shop as a caddy, and then an assistant professional under Pat Fletcher. He went on to work a to Royal Montreal Golf Club under Fletcher, before returning to Saskatoon to open Holiday Park, and later Greenbryre. In retirement, Peter returned to SGCC as a member from 2009 through 2022. He passed away in April, 2023. Peter is a part of the Saskatchewan Golf Hall of Fame, and will be inducted (posthumously) into the PGA of Canada Hall of Fame on January 21st. An article on the inductees is published <HERE> on the PGA of Canada website, including a video interview filmed at SGCC and published by Golf Saskatchewan in 2021.

Have a Great Weekend.
