Yesterday’s Member Update released information on the
2022 Rates, including the monthly payment plan and pre-payment incentives. As with a lot of our communications, it is difficult to include all the detail when there are several areas to cover. Club communications are always posted on the
Member Dashboard. A copy of yesterday’s email has been posted and a copy of this one will hit the page by the time you read this.
On the 2022 rates, the increase is about 5% in most categories. The short answer on that is just the rising cost of most things business related. The golf industry is affected a little more by the cost of labour than rising fuel prices, but very few things go down in cost or even stay the same. The cost of water was a new variable this year at double our annual budget. But with a lack of rain, there were more rounds of golf and extra sales to offset what we spent to keep the grass alive.
The Young Professional categories saw a larger increase in fees for next year. As play is not restricted, the lower rates for these categories had been justified in the past by age and a history of fewer rounds played. The past two season have seen a jump in the rounds played by these categories, and the larger increase in rates for next year addresses the increase in rounds played without introducing any new restrictions.
On rounds of golf…we just passed 41,000 rounds today. That’s up about 10,000 rounds over last year and about 16,000 rounds more than the 5-years prior to the pandemic. On access to tee times, the 50 most frequent players played between 101 and 165 games to date for an average of just over 123 games.
We also saw a significant increase in driving range usage this year and experienced some significant challenges with space and the supply of range balls. Family access to the driving range will be different next year. Junior Members will no longer be able to bring a family member to the driving range. All other categories will continue to enjoy this privilege, but family access may be restricted at times to ensure that all SGCC Members continue to enjoy unlimited range usage.
Despite some small challenges, it was an incredible year of golf at SGCC. The extraordinary run of weather continues through our final days this weekend, with tee-times affected only by frost and a shortage of daylight. We have about 40 tee-times each day for those hoping to play 18-holes. For those who weren’t able to get a tee-time, the driving range and 3-hole loop remain open through the weekend…and from the reminder email earlier this week:
- Clubs should be taken home for the winter. The Pro Shop will be open from 8:30 AM to 6:30 PM through this final weekend and from 9 AM to 4 PM weekdays starting October 18th.
- Staff will open the shop for weekend club pick-up from 10-2 on Saturday October 22nd & 29th.
- Lockers should be cleaned-out and left open for winter cleaning
- Food and Beverage services will not be available after Sunday October 17th.
- Remember to spend your remaining F&B Minimum credit by Sunday.
- Club charge accounts should be cleared-up by October 31st.
Again, we look forward to seeing you next season. If you have any questions about Membership options, or if there are any changes to your plans for next year, please contact the office or click <
