It’s been great to see so many SGCC Members out enjoying the course today. Feedback says the course is in great shape for opening weekend. It sounds like the tee-shot on #4 got a little easier over the winter, and the approach on #13 got a little harder. By the way, there’s poplar available in the parking lot for anyone who needs firewood.

The Women’s Opening Brunch is Sunday. Meeting at 10:00 and Brunch at 10:30. There’s still time to sign-up if you email Kayla directly: [email protected]. Tuesday Ladies Golf starts next week. The Reliance Gregg’s Central Amateur is July 1-3 this year. It’s one of Saskatchewan’s longest running amateur golf tournaments having started in 1943. Register <HERE> to compete in the Championship Division, Men’s Division, or Senior Division.  The tournament is looking for an enthusiastic Member to serve as Volunteer Chair. Anyone interested in recruiting and coordinating starters, spotters, and scoring table volunteers should contact the office or email [email protected].

Short Shots…
  • Divot repair sand and rakes for the bunkers are on their way. Our maintenance crew has been focussing on other areas this week but will be placing most of the remaining course supplies next week.
  • On-course washrooms will be open as soon as the pipes are running and there’s no risk of nighttime freezing.
  • If you’re visiting the driving range this weekend, please direct your shots to the middle of the range to avoid balls ending up in the water or near the first fairway. There’s not enough grass yet to stop them from leaving the range.

On that last note, you’ll notice that we aren’t using traditional range balls on the driving range. Supply chain problems have left us with no confirmed delivery date for the range balls ordered last August. With that, we sourced a good supply of used balls to hit until they arrive. Members are reminded that using them on the course or taking a few to the lake is strictly prohibited.

The same can be said for power carts. Not the part about members taking them to the lake…just the part about supply chain issues. SGCC did order 60 new carts last September, and there is no delivery date at this time. They are shiny and new, wherever they are. And when they arrive, we will gladly send the old ones down the road. Trading 50 cars is part of the deal…so no, you still can’t take one to the lake.
Have a Great Weekend!
