The weather isn’t quite what we were hoping for this time of year. Good for the farmer's fields and northern forests, but not exactly good for opening golf courses. And it’s heavier than the regular winter variety, so everyone should exercise caution this close to the golf season. I know at my house there's a skinny path for deliveries, and a plan to let the sun shovel the rest.
As for the golf course, Terry and a small crew removed the solid tarps and most of the flax straw on the greens earlier this week. The base layer covers will stay for the time being. A quick look underneath says the greens have wintered well, and there’s really no concern with the current weather. If winter around here only lasted a few days, we wouldn’t need to cover the greens at all. Watch for further updates on the range/course opening next week.
Congratulations to our Masters Pool winner Paul Humbert who finished on top without having Rory on his team. Paul picked Scottie Scheffler, Justin Rose, Tyrrell Hatton, Max Homa, and Jacob Bridgeman for 37 under par. That was one shot ahead of second place Brett Lutz, and 3 shots clear of Garth Courtney and Katie Turay Courtney (Tony Turay) who shared 3rd place.
Our New Member orientations were held yesterday with a good turnout despite the weather. The 2026 roster is the same total number as last year, but with turnover welcomes 25 new Full Play Adults, 24 new Young Professionals, and 7 new Game-Pack members. We also have turnover of 34 Juniors and 6 Spousal members. Waitlists in these categories range from 1-36 people with the largest being our game-pack and junior memberships.
Details on Junior Orientation and Junior Programs will be released next week.
The restaurant is open now for regular menu service, and If you're out and about this weekend, stop by anytime between 9am and 7pm to try something new on the menu. The Office and Pro Shop will be closed through the weekend, but you can start dropping clubs off on Monday, as the Pro Shop will be open 7-days a week after that. Regular office hours will be 8:30-4:30 from Monday through the end of October.
