Re: Announcement of New Maintenance Facility

Dear SGCC Member,

The SGCC Board of Directors is pleased to share an exciting development at the Saskatoon Golf & Country Club — the Board has approved the construction of a new Maintenance Facility, and we will be moving forward with the project this season.

This facility is long overdue. As many of you may know, our current equipment storage and repair shop are in a Quonset that doesn’t meet the needs of a modern golf operation. No improvements have been made since temporary trailers were brought in for staff areas over 30 years ago. In fact, a KPMG strategic operating plan listed a new maintenance facility as a top priority 21 years ago.

Inefficiencies are a daily challenge for our maintenance staff, as time is lost moving equipment in and out of limited storage and repair spaces. The trailers that serve as staff and office space are too small and far beyond any useful life. A larger, properly designed facility will allow the team to work more efficiently, protect valuable equipment, and continue to deliver the high-quality course conditions our members expect.

After months of careful consideration, the Board explored a range of options — including smaller storage structures, phasing the project over time, and wood-frame versus steel construction. Ultimately, the plan we’ve chosen represents the best long-term value for the Club. It balances functionality, cost, and durability, ensuring we’re investing wisely on behalf of the membership.

Miners Construction was the successful bidder for the project. Many of you will recognize their name — Miners has a long-standing and trusted relationship with our Club, and we’re confident in their ability to deliver a facility that meets our expectations.

The new facility will be 10,000 square feet. Half of the building is dedicated to equipment storage with large overhead doors. The other half of the building is split between staff areas, and repair shop, with additional exterior and interior overhead doors to move and maintain equipment with ease and efficiency.

Financing for the project will be made through our long-standing financial partner, Affinity Credit Union. Affinity has been instrumental in the Club’s financial planning — past, present, and future. Their continued support has enabled the Club to achieve key financial goals while making meaningful investments in the clubhouse, golf course, equipment fleet, and now, this vital new maintenance facility.

We’re also pleased to confirm that no additional fees will be added to your membership because of this project. The Board is confident the Club can manage the required payments within current and forecasted revenues.

We’re proud to take this next step in improving our Club’s infrastructure and ensuring the long-term success of the Saskatoon Golf & Country Club. Thank you for your continued support and commitment to the Club’s future.

Stay tuned for more updates as the project gets underway in the next few weeks. We look forward to keeping you informed every step of the way.

Sincerely,

Stephen Glauser

President, SGCC
